Glutamine is an amino acid with very strong anti-catabolic (muscle-sparing) properties. When you do a lengthy workout or cardio session, and you have 5 – 10 grams of glutamine in your system, whenever your body needs amino acids for energy, it will use the glutamine instead of your own muscle tissues (muscle catabolism).
So, if you are serious about what you are doing then this amino acid is a must. Go, find a good deal, buy it and start using it as soon as possible.
There are quite a few good glutamine products out there. One of my favorites is Jarrow's. It's a trusted company, and the price is good for the quantity.

If you don’t know about leucine let me tell you. This is the most important amino acid of all for protein synthesis. It is so important that if you took a shake with carbs and leucine only, you will stimulate muscle growth the same way as if you took carbs and whey protein.
You need to take this amino acid immediately after your workout. The dose is 5 – 10gr.

Arginine is the amino acid that stimulates the production of nitric oxide – the chemical that widens your blood vessels, allowing you to transport more nutrients, anabolic hormones and oxygen to the working muscle. I must I’d say.
You need 3 – 5 grams arginine before workout for much better pumps and growth. But before you buy it, make sure you find a good deal. I personally like Now's arginine. It's cheap and it comes from a trusted brand name.

BCAA's

This is a combination of three amino acids that are the easiest and fastest food for your muscles. If you are getting ready for a competition or simply want to loose fat but spare your muscles, then you should be taking BCAA’s several times a day, and especially around your resistance and cardio workouts.
One of the three amino acids is leucine – the muscle building amino acid that I told you about earlier on this page.

If your goal is fat loss, what you need to take before cardio session is mixed amino acids. A mixture of all the nine essential amino acids plus the other non-essential aminos will ensure that you burn a lot more of the fat and less of the muscles. Another plus is the cardio session will seem easier to perform.

Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine increases the production of Carnosine in the muscles, which in turn boosts the Nitric Oxide (NO) levels. You know what this does, right? It increases the volume of blood in the muscles - more muscle building substrates coming in, more muscle contraction byproducts going out.
